Ellie Goulding Album Covers

Ellie Goulding Research:

As part of my research I had a look at some of Ellie Goulding's covers as I wanted to see the layout and type of image she uses. It is clear from the above album covers that she stick with the same lettering which has changed styles but it is clear that she has been consistent in her lettering which is good as it provides some familiarity for her audience. There is also some consistent themes which is evident in the images she uses for her images, this includes mainly the use of  a close-up or mid-shot of the artist herself and I have identified four recurring themes within her album covers. These include:
1) the use of a glitter effect which is used over the main image
2) Ellie Goulding flicking her hair making that the main focus of the image
3) A colour effect across a black and white image which shows gradual colour changes
4) Simple black and white images with the artist using direct address.

This research has helped me with ideas for when it comes to designing
my digi-pak as it shows the conventions of the genre and the typical 'Ellie Goulding' style I may choose to adapt my design but this has helped me think about my own design.

Ellie Gouding: Your Song cover

The main colours used here are pinks and yellows which are really soft and feminine and reflects the genre of the music which is pop. Near the middle of the cover is text which displays the artists name clearly so the audience know who the artist is. The text has an effect which makes it appear to be glowing, this is effective and helps the text stand out against the background image of the artist. The artist Ellie Goulding is the main image and takes up the majority of the cover meaning that she is the first thing the audience will look at. The artist looks away instead of using direct address. This is typical of an artist of this genre, although the artists music is categorized as pop there are elements of the Indie genre also, the artists stance links in with this as it Indie artists believe it should be all about the music.
